Welcome to Everyday Excel!

Excel is a spreadsheet application, part of Microsoft Office.  It does for numbers what Microsoft Word does for text.  For example, Excel can help you balance your checkbook, track your expenditures, calculate your taxes, or measure the performance of your investments.

Excel also helps you manage lists of data; for example, your address book.

Everyday Excel is an eight week class covering Excel basics.  It's meant for people who are experienced in using personal computers, but have never had a systematic introduction to Excel.  Most people sign up for this class for three reasons:

  • They are looking for a new job, and finding that applicants are expected to know Excel.
  • They use Excel spreadsheets designed by others, but would like to know how to design their own.
  • They are simply intrigued by the power and usefulness of Excel.
