Standard 2: Energy

The student will demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary for the study of energy.

*Not correlated to State Grade Level Expectations

2.1 Understand energy forms, sources and characteristics

 
2.1.1  identify forms of energy (e.g., heat, light, electricity, sound)
2.1.2  identify objects, such as the sun, that emit heat and light
2.1.3  recognize that heat can be provided in a variety of ways (e.g., chemical reactions, electrical machines, friction)
2.1.4  recognize that when a warmer object comes in contact with a cooler one, the warm object loses heat and the cool one gains it until they are both at the same temperature
2.1.5  use tools to measure the gain or loss of energy (e.g., thermometer, balance)
