These standards identify key issues on technology use and integration. Sarasota County School Board will also be offering training to address recognized needs of all six standards. Standard 1: Technology Operations and Concepts
The educators will demonstrate:- a sound understanding of the nature and operation of technology systems.

| | 1.1.1 The educator will observe and experience the use of technology in their areas of instruction.
1.1.2 The educator will connect and operate the computer technology needed to access information.

1.1.4 The educator will operate various pieces of hardware and software.
1.1.5 The educator will select and use appropriate software for professional and instructional outcomes.
1.1.6 The educator will model proper equipment care and the safe use of tools, materials, and processes.
1.1.7 The educator will demonstrate an understanding of current technology terminology (e.g., hard drive, RAM, videostreaming).
1.1.8 The educator will demonstrate proficiency in the prerequisite skills for technology integration.

Standard 2: Social, ethical, legal and human issues
The educator will:- understand the ethical, cultural, and societal issues related to technology.
- practice responsible use of technology systems, information and software.
- develop positive attitudes toward technology uses that support lifelong learning, collaboration, personal pursuits, and productivity.

Standard 3: Productivity and Professional Practice
The educator will:- use technology tools to enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity.

| | 3.1.1 The educator will produce and present multi-media products utilizing sound, graphics, charts, bulleted text, images, and multiple sources of information in non-linear formats.
3.1.2 The educator will be able write a multi-page document incorporating advanced editing tools, multiple columns and graphics.
3.1.3 The educator will demonstrate the use of both spreadsheets and databases to impact instruction.
3.1.5 The educator will demonstrate the ability to select the best application to produce a needed result.

3.2 Investigate expert systems, intelligent agents, and simulations in real-world situations.

Standard 4: Technology Communication Tools
The educator will:- use telecommunications to collaborate, publish, and interact with peers, experts, and other audiences.
- use a variety of media and formats to communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences including the home/school connection.

4.1 Use technology tools and resources for managing and communicating personal/professional information (e.g., finances, schedules, addresses, purchases, correspondence).

4.2 Routinely and efficiently use online information resources to meet needs for collaboration, research, publications, communications, and productivity.
| | 4.2.1 The educator will demonstrate proficiency in the area of online research tools ( e.g., Groliers, Ebsco, Sunlink, Marco Polo, etc.).

4.4 Collaborate with peers, experts, and others to contribute to a content-related knowledge base by using technology to compile, synthesize, produce, and disseminate information, models, and other creative works.

Standard 5: Assessment And Evaluation
The educator will:- apply technology in assessing student learning of curriculum using a variety of assessment techniques.

The educator will:- design and share appropriate learning opportunities to support the diverse needs of all learners and to facilitate higher-order thinking skills.
