Mike Horan, Director of Instructional Technology
 Mike Horan has been with the district since 1989. He is a former elementary classroom teacher and district Tech Facilitator. Past accomplishments include being recognized as the Gocio Teacher of the Year, authoring Sarasota's first awarded state retrofit grant, authoring over $1.5 million dollars in district received grants, and being an invited author of the Florida Technology Plan. Mike has presented at FETC and NECC and is a featured speaker for Classroom Connect conferences. Mike lives in Sarasota with his wife Mary Ann and their two children, Riley and Mike.

Alina Klein, TeXcellence Program Coordinator -
Instructional Technology
 Alina Klein was hired as the TeXcellence program coordinator in April of 2007. A native Sarasotan, Alina graduated from one of Sarasota's district schools and went on to pursue a bachelor of science degree at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. Alina brings to the program her experience working with community-based programs. While in Miami, she founded an organization for young women and participated in awareness-raising campaigns for homelessness in the greater Miami area. Alina is happy to be working on such a great program in her hometown, helping to ensure that access to technology is equal amongst Sarasota County students!

Jessica Ruter, Project Coordinator - Instructional Technology
 Jessica joined our team in May of 2007 as the Administrative Assistant, and in September moved to a unique position as Coordinator for our major district projects. She is a previous preschool teacher and has traveled extensively working on domestic and foreign relief projects. She holds an Associate's Degree in Theology and is currently attending Manatee Community College. Jessica lives in Bradenton.

Joe Binswanger , Instructional Specialist - Instructional Technology
 Joe Binswanger began his Education Career as a 1st Grade Teacher for 2 years. Through hard work, he skipped 2 grades and made it to 4th Grade. He spent a number of years there before jumping ranks into the role of Instructional Technology Coach at Laurel Nokomis School. He joins the team with a true passion for making technology an interwoven part of all classroom curriculum. Joe's wife, Ali, is an ESOL Liason at Wilkinson Elementary School. They enjoying spending time with their handsome little boy, Luke and their new beautiful baby Paisley Jo.

Shannon Yeager, Instructional Specialist - Instructional Technology
 Shannon Yeager began his career in management and corporate training in the scientific and service industries. After owning his own successful business he decided to fulfill a life goal of teaching the next generation in a way that truly prepares them for the business world he came from. He taught Honors and AP Physics at Sarasota High School when the opportunity came to contribute in a larger way to the modernization of teaching technology and methods by joining the district team. Shannon’s wife, Jessica, is an instructional technology coach at Booker High School and they are expecting their third child very soon.

Emily Gilmore, Administrative Assistant -
Instructional Technology
 Our newest member of the Team, Emily, has been with the school district for 5 years. She comes to us from Brentwood and Alta Vista, having been the Registrar. Emily was the "School Related Employee of the Year" in 03-04 for Alta Vista. She has a background in Education and Library Service. Emily and her husband, Jim, live in Venice.
